MACDERMID ENTHONE DEMONSTRATES UNRIVALED SURFACE FINISHING TECHNOLOGIES AT AUTOMOTIVE INTERIORS EXPO 2018

MacDermid Enthone Industrial Solutions and Alpha Assembly Solutions, stand A7480, Automotive Interiors Expo 2018, Stuttgart, Germany, 5 - 7 June 2018

MacDermid Enthone Industrial Solutions and Alpha Assembly Solutions, divisions of MacDermid Performance Solutions, will showcase their cutting-edge surface finishing solutions for high-quality car interiors at Automotive Interiors Expo 2018. Visitors to stand A7480 will explore how the companies’ range of unrivaled innovation and services enable manufacturers to create high-performing and consistent components, while meeting the stringent demands of today’s global automotive industry.

On show will be MacDermid Enthone Industrial Solutions’ XtraForm Antiglare technology for enhancing optic performance in car interior applications. Designed for Film Insert Molding (FIM) components, the solution controls glare, while offering a wide range of decorative finishes to improve user experience, and aesthetic appeal. The formable hardcoated polycarbonate film has a 250µ thickness and has a texture finish on the hardcoat surface, and a gloss appearance on the alternative side. A matt version is also available for automatic processing. During the show, Claudio Travi, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Key Account Manager at MacDermid Performance Solutions, will present a paper titled: “Unrivaled advantages of XtraForm Antiglare”, where he will explore the key features and benefits of the Antiglare solution and how it can be used to meet specific design needs.

The company will also exhibit its latest hexavalent chromium-free pre-treatment system, evolve®, for high-performance decorative Plating on Plastics. One of the most advanced and proven processes available in the market, the innovative technology enhances the decorative and functional characteristics of automotive components, enabling OEMs to improve aesthetics, save on expenditure, and reduce the weight of parts while complying with EU REACH and China order no.7 regulations. By completely removing carcinogenic chromium trioxide from the etching process, evolve provides a unique solution for chromium plating of plastic substrate. Visitors to the show can learn more about the process in the presentation “Decorative plating in a hexavalent chromium-free world – unrivaled implementation”, hosted by Cėdric Vasseur, Global OEM Manager at MacDermid Enthone Industrial Solutions.

Throughout the three-day event, Alpha Assembly Solutions will demonstrate its leading capabilities for In Mold (IM) electronics inks. Designed to reduce the need for printed circuit boards or system-in-package in automotive interfaces, the process enables inks to be printed onto flat substrates and molded into shape. The technology allows OEMs to combine functional and decorative panels with electronic functionality, achieving reduction in weight, size and assembly complexity.

“Innovative components, which deliver optimal user experience and impressions, is a key priority for automotive manufacturers,” said Otfried Bertram, Global OEM Manager at MacDermid Enthone Industrial Solutions. “Surface coatings play a vital role in the performance of automotive interiors, responsible for preserving the quality, durability and appearance of parts.

“With today’s ever-evolving automotive landscape, design engineers are continuously seeking new and innovative finishing solutions, which not only enable the highest-quality, but comply with global industry standards. At MacDermid Enthone, we provide a wide range of unrivaled global technologies and services, specified by leading manufacturers across the world to meet the growing demand of the automotive industry.”
